2008 BOATING PICTURES
Time to cut off the shrink wrap! Now the real work starts!
A few pic's of our marina. NYS hasn't raised the water level in the Champlain Canal yet.
Hayden, my helper for the day.
A couple of pic's in our swimming area we like to go to.
Hannah finely decided it was OK to jump off the side of the boat.
A cruise out to Oneida Lake
Started out late in the afternoon 7/1, first up thru the Waterford Flight.
Tied up at the end of the Waterford Flight to wait for The Admiral to get out of work.
Cruised as far as lock 8, tied up there for the night.
Nobody wants to get out of the rack! Lets go it's 7am!
At last everybody's up and ready to go!
Arrived at Lock 14 and were told we had to wait, they were doing work on the dam. A large barge was pulled into the lock and steel plates were laid down from the side of the lock to the barge, large dump trucks were driven across to get the the dam area.
We had a 2 1/2 hour wait so we were able to tie up and walk around.
A few pic's after clearing Lock 14
Coming into Little falls, NY
Arriving at Lock 17, the largest lift/drop (41ft) on the NYS Canal system. this lock has a lift gate at the east end.
For some reason The Admiral likes to do the lock thru in this lock.
It's a long way up!
And the slide gate goes down.
Looking up as the gate goes down, the big white block is the counter weight for the lock gate.
Almost down!
Lock is filling
Almost there!
Town of Little Falls wall, a very nice stop over.
Nice leak in the lock gates, don't remember the lock number but it's west of Little Falls.
Some general pic's along the way
Future Captain!
This is why you have to be VERY careful on the canal system. This log was right in the channel.
Of course it started to rain
Oneida Lake Marina, for some reason we didn't get a lot of pic's while we were there.
If the camera is missing, this is what you'll end up with when you dump the camera to the computer, Hayden, playing around.
